Error Fix: Your Windows License Will Expire Soon

While you are enjoying a video, playing a game or dealing with work on your PC, a message keeps popping up, showing that Your Windows license will expire soon. After the windows license shows expired, your system will automatically restart every two hours unless you activate it, which can be very unpleasing and irritating. If you are also bothered by the same issue, here's how to fix Windows license error.

1. Restart Windows Explorer

Step 1: Press Windows+X and select Task Manager from the context menu.

Step 2: Select Processes tab, locate Windows Explorer and right-click on it. Then select End task to exit the process.

Step 3: Select File option and choose Run new task.

Step 4: In the next window, type explorer.exe in the box and click OK to run the Windows Explorer again.

2. Check date and time settings

Press Windows+I to open Settings and select Time & Language>Date & time. Turn on the toggle under Set time automatically and Set time zone automatically. Then reboot your PC to see if the error message disappears.

3. Change Group Policy settings

Step 1: Press Windows+R to open run command and type gpedit.msc in the open box. Click OK to open Group Policy Editor.

Step 2: Follow the below path:
Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Windows Components > Windows Update.

Step 3: Find NO auto-restart with logged on users for scheduled automatic updates installations, double-click on it and choose Enabled in the next window. Then click Apply to save changes.

4. Disable two Windows services

Step 1: Press Windows+R to open run command and type services.msc in the open box. Click OK to open Services.

Step 2: Locate Windows License Manager Service and double-click on it.

Step 3: In the pop-up window, click-on the stop option.

Step 4: Choose Disabled after Startup type.

Step 5: Back to Services window, find Windows Update and double-click on it.

Step 6: In the next window, you also need to click the stop button and change the Startup type to Disabled.

5. Reset product key via Command Prompt

Step 1: Type and search cmd in the search bar and select Run as administrator.

Step 2: Type slmgr -rearm in Command Prompt window and hit Enter to launch it.

6. Enter the product key manually

Step 1: Open Command Prompt as an administrator.

Step 2: Copy and paste the following script and hit Enter to execute it:

wmic path SoftwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey 

After it is successfully executed, your product key would reveal. Write it down and don't lose it.

Step 3: Press Windows+I to open Settings and select Update & Security>Activation>Change product key.

Step 4: Enter the product key you saved in step 2 and click Next.
